Jean TodtJean Todt, former Ferrari F1 team principal, is elected on Friday to replace Max Mosley as FIA president (Motorsport’s world governing body). Todt defeated rival Ari Vatanen by an emphatic 135 votes to 49.
He was supported by 7 time World CHampion Michael Schumacher, Ex President Max Mosley and also UAE Automobile and Touring Club.On this defeat, rival Mr Vatanen said he did not expect to be defeated by such a wide margin. “It’s very hard to renew this regime,” he said. “I hope that the FIA will become more democratic but so far it is just wishful thinking.”
Previously, the Frenchman has been the head of Peugeot’s rally and endurance teams and as most people know, the director of Ferrari Formula One as well.
